What is a Call Override Facility?
|
Call override is available to fixed line phones in Australia enabling you to use a different service provider to take selected calls. Once enabled, if you dial the override code before the phone number, you will be billed by your alternate service provider and not your phone service provider. Getting an override facility does not require any additional equipment and does not change anything in your phone line. This is not pre-selection for long distance calls. You will still be pre-selected to your phone provider.

What do I need to get the override facility?

Telcotel Call Override Facility is available in Sydney, Wollongong, Penrith, Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth and you need a land line

How long does it take to get the call override facility after submitting the form?
|
Telcotel claims to be able to provide the service within 72 hours. However, this does not always happen as there can difficulties with your current phone service provider.

Which calls will be billed by my Home Phone Service Provider with 1428 override service?
|
Any calls that you do not dial 1428 will continue to be billed by your phone provider. Any calls that you dial 1428, 1414 or 1456 will be billed to your Telcotel account. Also numbers that start with 13 or 19 will be billed by your phone service provider

Do I pay a monthly rental?
|
There is no monthly rental on the Override Service. You only pay for the duration of calls you take.

Which calls can I dial using the override code?
|
You can dial all International and Interstate numbers. You can also dial calls to Australian mobile phones but is not recommended. It is not recommended to use the override service to dial interstate numbers if you have a VOIP phone as this may be cheaper. You can not use the override code for 18, 13 and 19 numbers

How can I pay my Telcotel Bill?
|
Telcotel services are pre-paid. You can setup an auto top-up rule to Topup your account by a specific amount when the balance goes below a given value. You can also make payments using your credit card by calling the customer service hotline or make payments through Bpay.

No. There are two rates, one for Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) phones and another for all other phones including mobiles

Yes there is a device that can be fitted to your phone line that will dial the override code automatically. However the device will cost about $100

Will subscribing to the override service impact my existing Phone Service?

No, there is no change to the existing phone service

Can you take calls to other countries as well?
|
Yes, you can take calls to other countries as well. Rates to other countries start at 4 cents per minute. Please check the rate before you call

Yes you can view your call records when you log onto the callceylon website

I do not want to use the Credit Card on the Internet. Is there any way I can pay?
|
You can call the customer service hotline and they can make the payment for you. Alternatively you can have your credit card registerd on the site by Telcotel and setup and auto topup of your account. Payments can also be made using Bpay.

You can find out your credit balance on-line. Go to the home page and select the appropriate link under `quick links`.

|
Make sure that you have enabled IDD (Interstate Direct Dialing) on your phone
