About Telcotel Internet phones

Telcotel Internet Phones (or VOIP phones) are an ideal solution to get low call rates if you cannot get a 1428 Override Facility. Physically, its just an ordinary phone! Pickup and Dial! You need to have broadband ADSL or Cable.    

What you require
  (1) Broadband ADSL or Cable with a spare network port on the modem/router
    If your current ADSL modem/router is a single port, then you require a Network Switch. A Linksys SD205 costs around $50 in Australia
  (2) Analog Telephone Adopter (ATA) with a network cable
    Telcotel can supply this for $120 including delivery, configured and ready to use in Australia and Sri Lanka. Alternatively you can purchase one at a cost of around $75 to $100 and configure it yourself. Configuration is relatively easy and Telcotel will guide you over the phone within Australia or Sri Lanka. Telcotel currently uses Linksys PAP2T.
  (3) A standard phone or cordless phone
    You require a separate phone which will be plugged into the ATA.
Options to select from
  (A) Basic Outgoing Phone (Non-DID)
    The basic service is an outgoing only phone. You can take calls anywhere but receive calls only from other Telcotel Internet Phones. There is no monthly charge. You only pay for the calls you take. Calls within the Telcotel network are FREE! Other calls are billed at Telcotel rates. Basic phone service is provided only if you will be using it to take calls to Sri Lanka. Calls to Sri Lanka are charged at 14.28 cents per minute to SLT lines and 16.6 to other lines.
  (B) Melbourne city phone (DID)
    In this option, you are allocated a Melbourne phone number. Your calls are billed at Telcotel rates. Calls within the Telcotel network are FREE! There is a monthly charge of $10 for this option. Calls to Sri Lanka are charged at 13.3 cents per minute to SLT lines and 16.6 to other lines.
  (C) DID phones for your family
    If you install a DID phone in Sri Lanka (with a Melbourne phone number), you can get a basic outgoing phone in Australia or anywhere else in the world. Calls within the two phones will be FREE.

Check your existing modem/router before you order

Before you decide to order or buy an ATA, please check your existing router to see if it has a VOIP port as some of them do. If you are not sure, contact us with your model number and we will let you know. 

More Technical Options
  a. Standard Setup
    The standard setup is the most commonly used explained above. You need an ATA and a standard phone. Installation is provided for the standard setup only in Australia and Sri Lanka. However, you can do a self installation and Telcotel would send you the necessary information.
  b. For extremely computer friendly people
    If you are knowledgeable in downloading and installing a Soft dialer on your computer and using the headphones and microphone or install an USB phone, then Telcotel would send you the required information. We can also supply you a downloaded soft dialer.
  c. IP Phone to get high-tech!
    You can purchase an IP phone and plug it directly into the network port on your modem/router. You will need to set it up yourself. Telcotel will provide the required information.
